We need to use Art for healing and NOT for virtue signaling

I was very sad to read in the New York Times that Anna Netrebko, Russian Diva, Is out at the Metropolitan Opera.

The Met said she would not appear for two seasons, and possibly more, after declining to comply with its demand that she distance herself from President Putin of Russia as he wages war on Ukraine. What a BS!

Peter Gelb, the company’s general manager, said in a statement. “It is a great artistic loss for the Met and for opera,” “Anna is one of the greatest singers in Met history, but with Putin killing innocent victims in Ukraine there was no way forward.”

Am I missing something? She did not kill anybody! What stupid virtue signaling BS!

She has sung nearly 200 performances over the past 20 years. I am pretty sure that the MET made a lot of money because of her. Now suddenly The MET drops her like a hot potato. Why? Because she is Russian. Shame on you Metropolitan Opera!

Anna had an Instagram post where she said “As I have said, I am opposed to this senseless war of aggression and I am calling on Russia to end this war right now, to save all of us. We need peace right now.” I think that says it all.
